This is a track I wrote about a failed relationship. In the midst of me losing my mind from all the trauma I had experienced in Afghanistan and later at the fire department, I had really self-sabotaged a good relationship and I felt like a stranger in my own city. It was a very disorienting time and this song is completely resultant from that.
lyrics
Now that you're gone
I've been falling down
These familiar streets
Are strangers now
My heart beats
All of my blood
Out of this wound
and I own this
Buy into delusions that nobody will ever die alone (die alone)
Falling asleep to the television's static drone (static drone)
I am starting to believe that everybody always dies (dies alone)
You can put your hands on me and make me feel like I am made of stone (made of stone)
Time slows down
When I see you here
The ghosts of grief
Are nauseous to bear
Forcing a smile
The disfigured mask
Strength falters now
and I own this
Buy into delusions that nobody will ever die alone (die alone)
Falling asleep to the television's static drone (static drone)
I am starting to believe that everybody always dies (dies alone)
You can put your hands on me and make me feel like I am made of stone (made of stone)
Now that you're gone
I've been falling down
These familiar streets
Are strangers now
My heart beats
All of my blood
Out of this wound
and I own this
It's uncanny just how good Actors is at emulating that Post-Punk synth sound from my younger days.
Each listen just gets better and better. I feel slightly ashamed for not having heard this album until a few short days ago. modestwriggles
